FAQs
What is FairWork Desk?
FairWork Desk is an Australian workplace compliance platform designed to help employers and their advisers answer Fair Work compliance questions, generate controlled employment documents and maintain an auditable record of compliance activity.
It is designed around structured workflows, official sources and clear company-specific records rather than open-ended AI chat.
Who is FairWork Desk built for?
FairWork Desk is built for Australian small and medium businesses, particularly employers that do not have a large internal HR or legal team.
It is also designed for accountants, bookkeepers, HR consultants and other advisers who support multiple client businesses.
What can I use FairWork Desk for?
FairWork Desk can help with workplace compliance questions and supported employment processes.
You can provide the relevant company, employee and employment details, ask a compliance question and receive a source-based response where the available information supports one.
You can also generate supported HR and employment documents through structured workflows.
What employment documents can FairWork Desk generate?
Supported workflows can include documents such as:
-
Written warnings
-
Show cause notices
-
Termination with notice
-
Termination for serious misconduct
-
Redundancy notices
Each document workflow collects the information required for that specific process rather than asking AI to create a document from a blank prompt.
Is FairWork Desk just another AI chatbot?
No.
FairWork Desk is deliberately task-based rather than conversational. It uses structured company information, controlled inputs, approved legal sources, validation rules and audit records.
AI has a limited role within those workflows. It does not control company access, billing, legal source boundaries or deterministic calculations.
What happens if FairWork Desk does not have enough information to answer?
It refuses.
FairWork Desk is designed to avoid filling gaps with assumptions. If an important fact is missing, the available sources are inadequate or the conclusion cannot be sufficiently supported, the system can stop and tell you what information is missing instead of producing an unreliable answer.
Does FairWork Desk provide legal advice?
FairWork Desk provides workplace compliance information and controlled document-generation tools. It is not a law firm and does not replace professional legal advice.
For complex disputes, unusual circumstances or matters requiring formal legal advice, you should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
What is the audit history?
FairWork Desk keeps a company-specific history of material compliance activity.
For compliance questions and generated documents, the record can include who performed the action, the company involved, the information supplied, the result, the supporting sources and when the action occurred.
That gives your business a much clearer record than relying on scattered emails, documents or unrecorded conversations.
Can accountants, bookkeepers and HR consultants use FairWork Desk for clients?
Yes.
FairWork Desk includes a partner-firm model for advisers who work with multiple businesses. An authorised partner can manage permitted client companies through a partner workspace and switch between those companies when performing work.
Each action is still performed in the context of one specific client company.
Can my partner firm manage multiple client companies?
Yes.
Partner firms can maintain relationships with multiple authorised client companies, allowing your team to move between client accounts without needing to run completely separate systems for every business.
Client access remains company-specific.
Can my staff access our client companies?
Partner staff can be given controlled access to the client companies they are authorised to work with.
Access is based on explicit relationships and permissions rather than simply giving everyone in a partner firm unrestricted access to every client.
Is information from different companies kept separate?
Yes.
FairWork Desk is designed around explicit company boundaries. Compliance questions, documents, history and business actions belong to a specific company, and access is checked against the user's relationship with that company.
Partner access does not make one client's information visible to another client.
Is my business information used to train AI models?
FairWork Desk is not designed to train or fine-tune models on customer company documents or compliance activity.
AI is used within bounded product workflows rather than using customer information to build a general-purpose model.
How does the 7-day trial work?
A new company can set up its account and enter relevant business information before using a paid compliance action.
The seven-day trial begins when an authorised user starts the applicable billing process for the company and activates its entitlement to use gated compliance features.
This means you can get the company set up before the trial period starts running.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. FairWork Desk supports subscription cancellation.
Your company's access to subscription features will depend on its resulting billing entitlement and applicable subscription period.
Why use FairWork Desk instead of searching Fair Work information myself?
The Fair Work system contains legislation, Awards, definitions, rules, exceptions and procedural requirements spread across multiple sources.
FairWork Desk is designed to turn common compliance tasks into a repeatable workflow: collect the relevant facts, use approved sources, refuse unsupported conclusions, create controlled documents where appropriate and keep a record of what happened.
The value is not simply finding information. It is creating a more consistent and auditable compliance process.
